View SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment details

SRDF/Metro Smart DR is a two-region high available (HA) disaster recovery (DR) solution. It integrates SRDF/Metro and SRDF/A enabling HA DR for a Metro session.

Prerequisites

The storage system must be running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q3 2020 or later.

About this task

To view smart DR environment details:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Data Protection > MetroDR to display the MetroDR Environments list view.
  3. Select a smart DR environment to view its details.
  4. Click View All Details to go to the MetroDR Environment Details view.
The view consists of three tabs: Configuration, Metro, and DR. The Configuration tab is displayed by default.

The Configuration tab displays the properties for smart DR environment in the Properties panel.

The Configuration tab also displays a topological view of the environment. You can use this view to view more information about each component of the environment.

Each array or site representation is drawn for the smart DR Environment triangle. Each array icon is connected by an SRDF Group representation. The SRDF Group representation is traffic light color coded to reflect the overall state of the link.

Hover over the SRDF Group representation to display more information about the session between the two arrays, for example, the Metro R1 to DR link. To help you find out what is causing the color change in the link, hover over the link to display a popup that displays the traffic light color of each piece of information. This collection of information is aggregated and is used to calculate the overall state. For example, if the Pair State was Suspended, the indicator would be yellow which would make the whole link turn yellow.

Double-clicking a link between two arrays navigates you to the SRDF Groups list view with the group pre-selected so that you can view the details of that SRDF Group.

Hover over an array to display information about that array, for example, PowerMaxOS code level, array model type, state information relating to the site and Health information. Array Health and Host connectivity health are available for the MetroR1 and Metro R2 arrays. The State and Health information helps drive the overall color for the array.

The Metro tab displays the MetroR1 and MetroR2 volumes and the device pairs in each mirror.

    The following properties are displayed:

    • R1 Volume—Device name of the R1 volume
    • R1 Mapped—Indication if the volume is mapped to the host.
    • R2 Volume—Device name of the R2 volume
    • R2 Mapped—Indication if the volume is mapped to the host.
    • Exempt—Indication if there are exempt devices.
    • Paired—Indication if the MetroR1 and MetroR2 volumes are paired.

The DR tab displays child tabs, one for each Metro to DR leg.

    The following properties are displayed:

    • Metro Volume—Device name of the Metro volume
    • R1 Mapped—Indication if the volume is mapped to the host.
    • DR Volume—Device name of the DR volume
    • R2 Mapped—Indication if the volume is mapped to the host.
    • Exempt—Indication if there are exempt devices.
    • Paired—Indication if the Metro and DR volumes are paired.
